Assessing Kinetics in Drug Discovery
One of the most important factors determining the success of drug discovery is in vivo drug kinetics. This refers to the binding dynamics of a drug to its target including association and dissociation time which affect drug residence time in the body. Drug kinetics are often deprioritized as companies focus more on optimizing target-binding affinity and selectivity. This is despite increasing evidence that kinetic parameters may have a stronger correlation to drug efficacy than affinity parameters.
